Many thanks for your help before and after the event. (Pete has the reflectors and we need to get them back)
Without the fog I think Yoxter is a really fun area for night orienteering, with the infrastructure I think we could do a Southern or at a push a British Night champs, what do others think?.....you can look at the Day race on route gadget, night would be similar but perhaps using a different selection of sites
It's undoubtedly fit for the Sothern Nights or the British nights. Sothern's is possibly the simplest one as it's always the army inter corps champs which is a night event then a day event. I suspect it's the south wests turn in 20 months time as last year 2016 QO did it and it was TVOC in November, next year is booked in for GO this November.
SW should be due both day and night southerns in 2019 - and Yoxter would be the *perfect* venue for the nights (well, as perfect as Bordon ;-) ). Tag it on to a Galoppen at Stock Hill and with good marketing you could pull in hundreds!
Really sorry that the timings didn't quite work out for me so I couldn't make it - loved Yoxter when I ran here many years ago.
Totally agree with Richard that Yoxter would be perfect for the Southern Nights, and Stock Hill would be back in play again...
I would wholeheartedly put my energy into putting on a Night champs, along with a campaign to get more regular orienteers turned over to the night...
Would of all been better if we had had this discussion before the fixtures meeting last Sunday night but still time to change stuff. Casual discussion with Jo about the access possibility and also Mathew to check if the 2019 Sothern nights are allocated yet. There is meant to be a bidding process which should of happened by now but probably has not.
If we go for it would be happy to plan, organise or control. If Yoxter went proverbial we could go to Stock Hill or my preference New Beechenhurst perhaps using the café as a centre
The café at NB was excellent for the Rogueruns night run......... I wuld be happy to be involved (especially if looking for a planner :-))
Well we did do the British Nights on NB in 2008. I did not remember how I had run but having dug out the results not very well. I remember the candle novelty course most memorably.
