What are the conditions like in the Gats right now? We are considering driving up for President's Day weekend (February 16-20) to do some skiing and ice skating. Good idea or bad idea?

Very good idea, Gats are usually pretty great mid Feb. I think that's the Gatineau Loppet weekend (I should know, I've signed up), but that won't impact you too much. It is probably Winterlude which means the canal is pretty much always open.
This has been a strange winter, super cold at times and super warm at others, not many -5 C days.
Would be great to meet up if you're here and send me any questions about stuff to do.
Add Spa Nordik to your list.

Thanks for your answers! Do you think it will be possible to ski in the Gats even with the Loppet going on? (The other option would be to enter it, but it seems like that might be a lot of logistical hassle with a 1-year-old.) Which version of the loppet are you doing? I see that there are a bunch of classic options on Saturday and skate on Sunday.

Quick note, busy with NAFTA.
The Gloppet does not have a huge impact because the park is so big. Also pretty much just mornings.
There's also the Nakkertok trails.
Loads of trails to ski.
I bet you can pull off the loppet, can help with waxing if it helps. Maybe.
I'm entered in the 50 skate, but might drop down to the 30.

NAFTA, shmafta.

Might take you up on the waxing help for sure! I think we'll come up. Just looking for places to stay now.

I see you have the same Key Messages as the White House.
You looking Airbnb or Hotel? Don't discount the hotels in downtown Hull, best view of Ottawa. Do discount Gatineau proper.

My landlord has one in my building. I think $70 a night in the Market, will ask about those dates.
