Chas:
Mid week orienteering in the New Forest. I wish we had military league races around here.
I've not heard of the two guys up front. Are they regular orienteers?

Don't know him, but Richard Mawer is certainly an MLS regular this season, and has started doing some civvy races in recent months.

Probably got a Welsh cousin, three times removed.... must check...

Don't know Major J Buchanan either, but doesn't seem to do civvy races.

Not as many maybe, but there are some Military league north races, just as close to you I would have thought , as most of the MLS ones are to us. Not usually on the BOF fixtures list, worth keeping an eye on the BAOC website.

Beverley Westwood and Primrose Hill (Scunthorpe) last month, Cod Beck and a York urban this month. Doesn't have the same appeal as the New Forest.

Not that I'm bothered. I still work for a living.

Fixtures are here: http://www.baoc.info/events - you'd be MLN (military league north) - yesterday was lovely, Charlie, but you'd not have enjoyed the style so much, as was so easy really, just point compass & run, with huge linear catching features. Phil-O. Possibly better than sitting in a desk all day looking at the sunshine outside , though...... ;-)

Very much depends on the area - Sometimes they are great. I tend to pick and choose, but even then the planning can be a bit variable. Tho' in fairness I think they have generally improved that aspect in the last couple of years.

I see they are on Wednesdays. Unfortunately I work on Wednesdays, although if I had a group of club mates up for a day trip, I could probably fix that.

@Frostbite: working for a living must include checking AP ;-)

-yeah, you're good at fixing things. eg. Old Man of Coniston last May ;) - found out about it Friday, day off Monday - superb "fixing" !

Mark Two - Long Valley next week? Looks fun, 10.8km and Long-O. Sounds nice & Phil-O friendly.

Got 1 day's training followed by 5 races in the next 5 days in Portugal...... just to make Chas, really jealous. And then Wednesday, will probably need a final vist to Pembrey to put that to bed.
