Dennis, I cannot remember, but do you know the reason we cannot use the Montebello Map? Are we unable to get pemission from the park? Or is the map just too gnarly?
I believe it's the former, though, as you know, those things can change. Don't when anyone from BAOC last tried to get permission.
And if we ever do get permission, the map will need some serious updating. There are still some areas of woods that can be run through, fewer areas than there used to be, and of course it is very steep in most of the park, but with a good map, decent courses could still be set.
Glad to see the knees are improving. But sorry the green has expanded on that map. Here in the midwest the Forest Preserve District actually burns parts of our O-maps, which helps to reestablish their whiteness. Do they ever consider burning a natural area out in the Bay Area? Maybe during the rainy season?
No. Best we can hope for is goats.
The wildfire in Califrnoia in recent years have wiped out forest rather than restoring them.
Sounds like Montebello may not be worth a remap.
What grows back after a fire? Grasslands?
Chaparral? Coastal sage scrub?
I've been trapped in chaparral down in LAOC country...not a good experience.
