Driving through Oklahoma today... want to run?!
I ran at 6 this morning and am pretty well done. 6 miler. Its like another minor relapse of the flu...just enough to drain my energy. Mondays I walk. My 'long runs' usually drain me 2 to 3 days.
I just got your message...was in the other room. I get very few calls except solicitors and fraud IRS ripoff artists on my old land line number. I live in Edmond now. My cell is 405.657.7792. Edmond is 25 miles north of Edmond...east side is along I35. I live on west side, but I'll be at church 5 to 6 and it is on the east side.
I'm a robotic old geezer that has my 7 day routine that I can barely alter due to my psycho subconscious genes. Anyway hope to hear from you.
Did you say you were dropping your mom off at the airport in Dallas? You really are getting around these days. I've driven to Altus in SW Okieland twice since I retired Aug 31st...for Xmas and 10 days later for my brother Dirk's funeral.
Either way safe driving if we don't talk or meet up.
We are in Oklahoma now, but I only have time for a stop to run someplace so maybe next time. We're not gonna get home until 7 AM tomorrow morning driving all night.
Driving past a gigantic cross at a church called life church. That's probably where you go. We had a really stupid run at by the zoo and casino and racetrack. Or a midget Hispanic security guard harassed us an incentive so away even though I told him I was only running for 15 minutes he made a stop
One place I play golf is right there by the race track and zoo. I do not go to that church but where I go I about 2 miles on a straight line back into town...about 2.5 driving on street. I have the dull ache and lethargic feeling in my muscles again so it was a no go for many reasons on a run. There is a lake right there that probably has trails around it...I never go there to see. Also across from my church there is a city park with a jogging trail I've run on once.
So you were going for about 1.5 to 2 mile run? How much did you get in. I guess you should be close to Duluth right now. I goggled Duluth and looked at a few streets...its amazing how you can do that. I flash back to the 70's. Sometimes I'm sure I'll make a trip up there including possibly trying to shuffle jog something and other times I tell myself no way. I did love those August trips in 77, 78, 79...but the whole summer was pretty great up there.
Chrissy urges me to run at least a 5k. She told me to work up to 10k but even though I've mentioned how slow I am now she was shocked that in my best condition of the past 5 years I probably could barely have broken 50 and right now that's way out of my ability.
Also driving that far is so intimidating.
I drove up there 73, 75 and 79 and stayed...77, 78 and 83 I went up for a visit. Ole Randy and I made a trip one year when he was in Colorado Springs. I guess it would have been 74 or 75. He got his motorcycle and rode it back. I can barely remember the trip except we got caught in a Nebraska Highway Patrol speed trap. Randy was driving my car when it happened. WE had to follow them and drop the payment off in town but I don't remember anything about the drop off itself.
He brought back his dog Jasper and that was a bad mistake for that poor dog. He kept him cooped up in his apartment. That was the first signs Randy was 'depressed' and mixed up...even more than me. I don't remember for sure if we brought Jasper...I think we did or if he had him shipped, but I had to dog sit him a few times. He even jumped out a window once he was so unhappy.
That Life Church is huge. It has 'satellite' congregations where they do live feed broadcasts of their preacher to other places. There is a much smaller, though still large, satellite branch a half mile from my home...I even cut through their parking lot yesterday morning. The east/west road has 4 names...it is the old highway 66, second street (main name), Edmond Road and NW 178th. I live off it...where it is called NW 178th (I live on NW 177th Ter or half both south) 6.5 miles to the east of that church.
When you posted about the LIfe Church at 4:52 I was on the way to our evening service so probably 3 or 4 miles...so close ironic. I understand the feeling of making time on a trip even if much shorter.
