Courses for the fourth and final event in the WCOC/HVO Winter Training Series are now open. Controls are in the woods, and the maps can be downloaded here:

WCOC/HVO Winter Series
Course 4
Hemlock Hills, Ridgefield, CT

Course Setters: Rick and Susan DeWitt

The start is in a small parking area on the south side of the intersection of Ned’s Mountain Road and Bogus Road, Ridgefield, CT.

Note: There are a LOT of new trails in the area, and some old trails have had reroutes. We GPS’ed in new trails where we saw them, especially near control locations. But keep in mind that these new trails, as shown on the map, may be only approximate.

Course Information:

Red 5.1 km, 170 meters climb, 14 controls, 1:10,000 scale
Green: 4.0 km, 75 meters climb, 8 controls, 1:10,000 scale
Brown: 3.1 km, 50 meters climb, 7 controls, 1:7,500 scale

Quick update: The controls for event 4 will be out in the woods for an additional week, i.e., through the end of the day on Sunday, March 11.

This series has been really fun and I appreciated the extension on the Mtn Lakes course as I was away travelling and would have missed it. It's been a while for me :-) so it was nice to get some practise in just by myself. Route Gadget is new since I was last around and that is a great post-run tool to learn how I could improve.
