Then you go read about baby sleep and all the advice is "do not let your baby get overtired." Which, argh, is not that simple. It's not like I've been trying to keep my baby awake during the two hours I've been trying to get him to nap!
And you read "sleep begets sleep" and you feel like you will never sleep again because the baby doesn't sleep so won't beget any more sleep. It all feels like a vicious cycle. The positive is that it does *eventually* get better... or so I've heard.
All so true! And I spend an hour trying to get her to nap and then she sleepsfor 20 minutes! If I could make her stay asleep and not get overtired I would happily do so!
Last night I tried to get her to nap at 4:15pm for a nap before bed. She fell asleep at 5:10, and then with extreme help from me (lying with her and holding her hand, and napping myself!) stayed asleep log enough to get into her nighttime sleep cycle.
It does feel like sleep begets sleep is true. But the mystery of how to get them to stay asleep is beyond me!
