Interesting Air Force notes. I've volunteered several times to help w/ USAFA stuff while I'm out here but every time it is crickets. Didn't even know there was such a thing as "Air Force Nationals" and I'm on the military team! I know what they're talking about when it mentioned AF "mentality." I think that should actually be translated as "lack of vision." Air Force has numerous professions that require skilled land navigation-- Combat Control, SERE, intel, **NAVIGATORS**, the rapidly growing GEOINT field, all Special Ops, and of course Pilots, just to name a few...and I'm sorry, if you want to be a half way decent tactical pilot you absolutely must be skilled at interpreting topography, maps, and thinking in multiple dimensions... it is far more than just knowing how to move around if you get shot down. And even that one reason alone, survival, is enough to warrant more focus on land nav. I don't understand how this is a hard sell to the Air Force! Not sure what these notes are from or for what purpose but if there is anything you need an Air Force officer to do to help w/ any of this let me know, I'll be happy to do so.
