Wow, you got in a lot of running today. Are you training for a long race?

Thanks for noticing Tori! I was surprised to see my Fitbit tell me I broke my single day 2018 step count at over 40k and floors climbed at 500. Part of it was just seizing opportunities to run with groups/friends and the better-than-recent weather.

The other part is that I view my training cycles as five week sets. The end of my first cycle of 2018 was the Feb 4th half marathon I ran in SF. This Saturday will be the NavX event to culminate cycle #2. And Cycle #3 will culminate with the April 15th Coastal Trail run where I'll probably run another trail half. I don't have many hard and fast rules about the concept but it's working well so far.

Cycle #3 will be my most orienteering-heavy yet, given where COW and OCIN fall. Do you have any recommendations for me for places to work on pure forest running around Palo Alto?

Hmmm... the problem with forest running around here is that it's usually crazy steep. Huddart is a large park, forested, and there's an orienteering map of it, but I've never had very good experiences running off trail there. I really enjoy trail running there though. Wunderlich and Foothills are probably the closest forested parks, but I've never tried running off trail in either. Are you looking to do forest intervals or something like that?

Is the Grizzly Peak Trail Run the one you're talking about? I was looking for a trail half around then, so I may consider joining for that (you probably mentioned it before, but my spring orienteering schedule is finally becoming more concrete so I can schedule other things).

Yes, I think forest intervals would help me. Thanks for the tip.
Glad your schedule is getting more concrete, and yes definitely join me for Grizzly Peak Trail run if April 15th is open for you!
