I think a group of you went down last year. Any tips/advice. I'm looking to go down and Will will likely tag along (especially if he can get me to pay).

Any do's/don't's for accommodation's? I'm cool with camping but would like to have a hot (or at least warm)shower after!! :-)

It's a great race! We all stayed at Mohican Park State Lodge, which is about 20 mins away and has a dining room, bar, pool, gorgeous view, etc. The camping is very convenient to the start line if you're not swayed by creature comforts. This really made it feel like a nice vacation though.

I assume you're thinking the bike, not the run?

Good race, lots of singletrack. Here's the course map on my log entry.

Note the entry about post-race refreshments...

Yes bike. Was thinking 100 miler, but given what I just read about post race refreshments (unlimited!!) I might look for a shorter distance to increase my post race time availability!

There was idle talk about the 100 miler but when everybody realized that everybody else was doing the 100K so they could enjoy the weekend more, we were all a lot happier. :)

Now for the internal struggle
100 miler = better for managing my weight ... on two levels!!
100km = more fun time and fewer saddle sore minutes!!

100 km = easier to justify staying in the nice hotel. You get to enjoy a post-race swim and dinner in the dining room. :)

Whichever one you pick, it’s a great race course. I’m probably going to do a trail run that weekend but if I don’t, I’d like to do this again - with the back wheel attached to my bike this time!

The only thing worse than the back wheel coming off would be the front wheel coming off... fortunately I've only experienced the former!!

Hey FB, I wouldn't recommend the camping at Mohican park. I did this last year and it was hard to tell at times if you were on the site or in the road. Sites we stayed at and others we saw weren't great. They have cabins there too and I'd rent one of those next time.

It's looking like we may go, in which case we'd be doing the 100K and staying at Mohican Park State Lodge on Fri/Sat nights.

Thanks for info!!

I'll look into the Lodge

There is a special rate at the lodge if you phone and mention the race. I haven't compared prices yet but I think that was the cheapest option last year. I just registered for the 100K! :)

We're booked in. Good rates with the race!
Save almost $100 a nite vs posted rate.

Now I need to remember to register for the race!! :-)

We're the other way around. Good reminder - I'll do that!

We're booked for Fri/Sat nights now. Let's talk closer to the date. It would be great to meet for pre-race dinner if you get there early enough. (We will.)

Anyone else?
