Where did you find $175/night price? Wow. I looked at Mahwah, Marriott/Hilton prices and those in $140 range after tax. At least you know what you pay for.
Fairbridge Inn & Suites on Hotels.com seems to be at $89/night (Fri > Sun) right now ... crappy place, but ...
@speedy - Thanks for recommendation.
$175/night = West Point Motel, where my family stayed 2 years ago. Very very close, very basic. But we were sharing the cost and room...so for just me it is too much. And the one we loved, right on West Point campus (IHG Army Hotels) is full. The Hampton Inn I stayed in with Sandy in 2014 in Central Valley is $200!
So Mahwah looks good except 30 min away. Just means extra coffee in the morning.
@hughmac4 - thanks! huh, let me see how bad it looks ;)
Don't forget Airbnb and other less traditional routes.
This place sounds like it may be up your alley:
@furlong47, that does sound nice! Are you going to WP this year? Remember the year we gave up and walked in together? I think that was 2 years ago. That green course was ridiculously hard.
Yes, the sciatica year for me, which thankfully cleared up although it took several more months after that. Anytime my butt or leg hurts or feels tight I'm scared it might be coming back. I am going, as usual (have only missed one year since 2002, when I went to Rolex instead and couldn't afford everything.)
Consider Tuxedo Motel. Definitely old school mom-and-pop motel and pretty much zero amenities (no breakfast, no fitness room...). But immaculately clean and HALF the price of anything else in the area. No online reservations either. The owner is quite a character, I sense it would be best to avoid a political discussion.
@furlong47 - so glad you're through the sciatica - every once in a while mine flares up but recedes pretty quickly. Glad to hear you'll be going!!
@o-maps - thanks for the rec! I did come across that online. It's on my list. I haven't decided if I'm going or not yet, money is an issue as is time. Good to know it is clean as that is my one real requirement...
