I see that there's lidar data covering Hughes Mountain. The rocky glades on the top look interesting.
I just spoke to Dave Fisher today while setting controls for Beaumont for BSA meet tomorrow. Yes, apparently much of MO now does have free Lidar data available and he's learned the "hoops" to jump through to both access & use the data for O' maps via OCAD.
The official public trail [under 1 mile] at Hughes stops at the huge "pile" of rocks -- quite interesting and great views. But an old road goes beyond -- the glades are large and frequent -- a couple on the top and most on the western face. Very little if any glade restoration has been done or is needed - some cedars cut. Woods are very open except for scrub (black jack) oak - short and pokey.
