Cyclones are smaller than most people think, especially low-latitude ones. 20km further to the north and Tracy would have been pretty much a non-event for Darwin (although Tracy was particularly small).

By the way, Attackpoint thinks that it's been around 250 degrees in Adelaide for about the last week.
