Attackpoint's own Jarkko Ryyppö was just honored by Finland's Orienteering Federation as Orienteering Person of the Year for his work on Route Gadget. Congratulations, Jarkko, and thanks!!

Well done Jarkko, you're a star.
It's improved my orienteering and has been really helpful when coaching from a distance with athletes.

Congratulations
Lard

Indeed, well done. I guess this investment of time is an example of what some of you mean when you say orienteering is not just a hobby but "a way of life." This strong volunteer ethos certainly adds to the sport's value for me.

Our club has one of the two installations in Australia. Its a great tool! Clearly a great gift to the sport! As a consequence, so many moments of embarrassment for us all to share! Thanks.

Any club that doesn't have Routegadget on their site is really missing out. It's a really neat and fun tool. Congratulations !

Congratulations Jagge.

Since most Americans have less access to real orienteering than in the Nordic countries (greater distances, fewer events), RouteGadget is even more important for us. It allows us to get our O "fix" whenever we wish, even tho our next event may not occur for months.

Compared with the box of dog-eared maps I used to pour over, RouteGadget provides infinitely more amusement and training. Thank you. And thank you also for your continuing helpful participation on A/P.

In my close to 40 years of orienteering I've seen and been part of some great innovations - coloured maps, then 5-colour maps, map scales evolving from 1:25,000 and 1:20,000 to 1:15,000 and 1:10,000.
Also standard IOF map symbols and IOF symbolic control descriptions, map drawing moving from scribing, to ink to OCAD.
There's been a great improvement in O-suits and particularly shoes.
The Timex Triathlon 30- split watch allowed us to keep our splits for each control then came Sportident and winsplits. But my favourite of all innovations by far is Route Gadget and its Splitalyzer. (Well maybe not the splitalyzer when I see my times going down an olympic ski slope while Peter Gagarin's times flatline across the screen.) In my long days between O-meets it is sometimes fun to search out a meet on a Route Gadget site, pick out a course and a couple of competitors who had similar times then watch their little squares race across the map. (I know. I've got to get a life!)
Thank you Jarko.
