Wow. We stayed out of the woods but we were lucky in our area this time - mostly just branches rather than trail-blocking trees.
A big area on a part of the trail that had been closed for a few years has had some new open areas intentionally created. I think this changed the wind patterns which directed more force to the remaining thin strip of trees.
Most of what fell was ash, so I'll have to get over being distressed by the removal of what looked like perfectly good trees along the in service portion of the trail a couple of years ago.
Ash removal has been happening around here too. It's sad but I guess it makes sense.
