Thanks to all volunteers who made this event a success!
Friday started out with pleasant temperatures but they fell throughout the day, and orienteers were greeted with a dusting of fresh snow on Saturday morning. It remained quite cold through Sunday's event, with near freezing temperatures throughout the race.
It may have been cold, but at least we weren't getting rained on or snowed on during the events. The weather turned out much nicer than the forecasts I had seen earlier in the week. :-)
I had a great time. THANK YOU to all of the hard-working volunteers -- and to whoever put the Donut Trail info in our race packets (I visited four locations).
Thanks Brooke. I'm currently drafting the maps for the
Butler County Donut Trail Cycle Challenge, 28 and 58 mile bike rides on September 1. Each ride will include 12 donut stops. Disclaimer: I did not design the routes and am not involved in the organization; I was just asked to produce the maps.
They're pretty serious about that Donut Trail! I saw an ad for the cycle challenge in one of the local magazines last weekend. If it didn't conflict with the RMOC / LROC national event over Labor Day weekend, I would seriously consider it...
Thanks, OCIN, for a great weekend of racing! I liked the unique challenges of each day of racing, as well as the fact that this year's terrains challenged the ability to navigate while running fast.
