My sister in law...Chrissy's twin sister ran 1:05 for the Cap 10K in Austin...I think I ran that race in spring '77 when I lived at Bergstrom AFB. She hardly runs in her own words and ran 10:28 a mile. 54 years old. I guess I could run around 9 min pace. Looked at local results...48 min for 10k in our age group. At the Cap 10k which is huge race time was 43 min or 6:57 mile.
I guess someone ran 2:53 at Grandma's last year but a 3:25 would have gotten you within top 10.
I'm kinda getting the bug now to race so its a matter of the 'jinx' that goes along with that thinking. My 30 min to over one hour multiple exercise warmup is supposed to help me break the jinx.
So far so good.
My friend Brent Smith is probably the one who ran 2:53. He's been in the 2:45-2:50 range since turning 60. You ran against him in HS but he wasn't that good. He was a good XC skier at the time though.
That name sounds familiar without looking it up. What school did he run for?
