I fell over last weekend too after choosing to run in normal runners. Normally I don’t fall - O shoes are better if a bit uncomfortable.

I fell about 10 times, lots of loose rolling rocks amongst all the undergrowth. At one point I actually started yelling at my feet to "stay under me".

First time back in the bush since State Champs for you too, isn't it?

I actually wore new X-Claw 275s (I have now added them to my shoe list). Simmo helped me find a pair in my size; one size bigger than the ones I had previously which always gave me blisters on my toes. I was quite happy with them.

I wore inov8 spikes and still managed to fall over, but then I average one fall every two events so it wasn't surprising. What was surprising was only one fall, given all the stony ground and fields of termite mounds. The big ones I can cope with, but the smaller ones seem designed for toe-stubbing.
