Part of my morning's work has been to expunge Bridget from the list of Australian cyclones, on the grounds that it failed to reach the minimum required strength. (It was off the Queensland coast, in January 1969).

They are, and so are typhoons.
Cyclones which are still on the list: Belinda (1972), Jenny (1974) and Vanessa (1976), all of which spent a week or two wandering around off the coast of WA, although Vanessa (4) was the only one to make it past category 2.
