So where did you end up man? Vaughan Road-ish?
No excuse to not get some miles in now...
The Beltine, (just north of Cedarvale Park) gets you to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, which leads into km's of trails and green space in the Don Valley.
If you want a tour, text me. I can meet you up your way.
How's your schedule these days?
There's a group of guys that do intervals in Mt Pleasant on the weekends, can connect you. Alex Hutchinson and the like.
Klepperton! It's great to hear from you guys; thanks for the concern about my well-being. I did indeed move to the Oakwood Village area; it's closer to work, and it's a bit bigger and more convenient place. I am trying to get back into things, and I would be thrilled to sync up with you guys. I'm thinking about training for a marathon in 2019, as it would be a good motivating goal (target time of sub 3 hours). I think I'll try to get in shape for a good half in the fall, and if I run under some goal time (90 or 88 for a PR), I'll commit to the marathon training.
I've been in and out a bit for the past few weekends, but I should be good for a long run on Saturdays or Sundays, with long regular weekday hours.
Nev - that would be great; can you give me their contact info? I'm a bit sluggish right now, but hopefully I can keep up with them.
Both - is there a way to get the set of all orienteering maps in the Toronto area? I want to do some trainings and direct a local event this year. Whom should I speak to about that?
I asked my friend Adrian about the group:
"It's pretty simple. We show up at 9:15am at the north/Yonge street entrance just inside the cemetery (where two roads meet)and we start the 5k at 9:20am. Most guys run between 17-flat and 19-mid"
What's your email of choice and I'll connect you all.
Aw ya Nev...Saturday or Sunday?...you have my email.
Ian: I have most maps - including Cedarvale Park, if you wanted to have a boo.
You can email Oliver Tabay (firstname.lastname@example.org), if you wanted to hold an event. TOC still does their informal Wednesday nights during the spring/summer.
Or maybe you and I can chat about putting on something more substantial? Lots of new/potential maps/areas coming down the chute...
Ian you can potentially book giant conference rooms at MaRS for free right?
Possibly? It's unclear; I work at MaRS, so maybe? Thanks for the heads up about the group; my 5k PR is 18:45, so I think this group would work well for me. It's much easier to run intervals with other people suffering, too.
E-mail of choice is iamsinht at gmail.
Klepperton: I would be wholly amenable to something more ambitious, but I want to organize a few trainings and local meets first. I'm happy to partner up if you want to co-direct something or if you have a project I can help with.
