How is the Lawrence housing market? I imagine it’s almost as hot as San Francisco or Boston but I’m prepared to be wrong.
It's pretty hot in certain price ranges. Houses are selling the first day, with multiple bids, due to low inventory. That's why we are surprised that a house on our street has been on the market for more than a month. Wonder what is wrong with it ???
Oh, and to make the folks in Boston and San Fran jealous, our neighbor is asking $220,000 for a 2080 sq foot home.
That would also make Oslovians jealous. I have a lot of thoughts about the housing market here and how unreal (and sometimes dumb) it all seems.
So, best guess on what is wrong with the house still on the market? Old meth lab in the basement? Smells like smoke? A refrigerator with a door that opens the wrong way?
Not sure. The owner is a former mayor. Don't think there are any "bodies buried in the basement" but you never know....
$110-130/sq ft is about the going rate in my neighborhood, too. I guess, as someone who already owns a house, I should not be happy about that, but I actually like the fact that when I'm trying to get young programmers to work for me I can tell them that I can easily pay them enough to buy a house. Like, tomorrow, not in 10 years. Google and Amazon have a tougher time making that claim.
