Curious - why? I'm very glad you're here but it seems that most friends are exclusively on Strava now. I just learned that Strava can't deal with adventure racing - wow! I have more than 13 years of information on AP and I like its functionality better so I'm staying here for the foreseeable future but I understand why a lot of people have switched.

It’s hard not to take that personal.

I want the data. I don’t love Strava other than my friends are all on it. I love with AP that I’m able to come back and see what I did in previous years, I love the details here. E.g., Killarney data was very useful or if I had another baby, I’d be curious what I did while pregnant etc. Spoiler alert: I’m NOT pregnant!! Also, I’d miss fb too much. ;) also, I can’t convince people to use Strava handles.

Good answers! I was genuinely curious because you and JayXC are two of the only people who regularly log both places so I figured you must have some strong reasons. I agree with all that you said.

AP is the closest I have to a diary. It’s so useful for going back in time to check something, like you said. Yesterday I checked my 2017 spring biking hours going into today’s race vs. 2018 and it was informative (although terrifying). I search for something in my log almost every day.

I do miss the people who are no longer here and I’m very glad you’re sticking around! :)

I just have to make the time to write the details! Will write about Killarney for ‘bent *and* myself!

It’s not much of a report - more of some ramblings of a spectacular day!

Great report - thank you for taking us along on your adventure!

Thanks, enjoyable morning read. Heal fast, wonder woman.

What's strava?

Is that the 'new' molecule (extract?) that's going to save me from death by aspartame?
:-)

+1 here for going double on Strava and AP. I love AP for the sport specifc information and peeps and Strava for connecting with so many.

Bash:
Thanks, W4J - I'd forgotten I'd seen your name on Strava too. Followed! For now, I'm just posting occasional training sessions there to connect with friends. And also sometimes to laugh at my status as the Anti-QOM on most segments I've done. I'm not thrilled with Strava's focus on competition and FKTs but I understand why that would be lots of fun for speedy people.

Work4justice:
LOL, it's fun for the neighborhood wannabes when we only have 3 of us on a country road segment but we steal each other's QOM. It's laughable!
Jun 7, 2018 7:47 PM #
Bash:
I guess that's true. I could create my own segment that only I do. Then I could be a Queen. Not a legitimate one like Queen Hermes, but a queen nonetheless.

Hermes:
I actually had Bob convinced that the new rage is to have a Strava handle. I made a bunch up and asked what his was going to be etc. I had him for a while but couldn’t stop laughing!

Nothing can save you from aspartame!

No queen here but my friends all are. They go searching for segments just to get the crown. It kills me! Most times I’m pleasantly surprised to get one. Except the Peaks, that one I am legitimately working toward, even if it’s one of my best Mama friends that has it!!! Mmmmwhahahahaha!

Work4justice:
I can never remember the segments and I just go on. But if a buddy grabs one of my Qs, I’m screen shotting, and texting a grumpy face in a hot minute! Lol!!!

Bash:
Haha!

Hermes, you just scored two QOMs a couple of weeks ago on the Killarney Loop. You can't fool me.

I do like strava and loved AP. My biggest issue is data entry into AP. I'm lazy and my strava data "magically" just shows up after I finish a ride/run.

NOTE: Yes i do understand the magic behind it. :) I'm the geek who builds your "cloud".
Jun 8, 2018 3:31 PM #
Bash:
That was Harps' reason for switching too. I find the magic to be inflexible so I do manual updates when I use Strava anyway. For example, I couldn't post Storm The Trent on Strava because it's multisport. And I can't post my real race time for the Mohican 100K because Strava subtracted aid station stops. Maybe I'm just missing the functionality I would need or maybe it's available to Premium users.

simpy:
Couple things. Mark you activity as race and it will not strip out times when you have stopped. As for multisport, it will upload and catalog but your right, it does not nicely add in non running/biking to your activity log calculations.
Jun 8, 2018 9:36 PM #
Bash:
I didn’t want to upload Storm at all because I was afraid weird things would happen if Strava thought I had set a new 10K PR on foot when I was really on a bike - or whatever. I know some people do anyway,
