43 yrs ago today Pre ran last race. Read a few stories on him then Shorter and now Zatopek. There is a good video...even clear because it was filmed versus the Shorter 72 Marathon summary clip was blurred and not clear at all. They just show the marathon, unlike all the grimacing he normally did Emile smiled some during the marathon in 52...he looked 10 years younger when he smiled...he was running easy and smooth.
It would be interesting with todays training methods, shoes, tracks and knowing the times that were run later, what some of those old timers could have run if given a second chance 40 or 50 years later.
