BTW, the hub that failed wasn’t the nice DTSwiss I got from Carbon’s Offset, it was a Velocity that came with the bike. I was planning to upgrade. I should have gotten the DT built up for my summer wheels, and the Velocity on my winter plus wheel.
Great that you were able to get back in the race.
Congrats for sticking it out!
Thanks guys, it was hard to get my head back into the ride after I had assumed it was over. I wish I could see when the guys I was riding with in the first 30k ended up finishing.
Wow, amazing work by the mechanic! And nice MacGyver work and preparation (glass, multiple spare links) by you!
Thanks for the clarification about which hub this was (wasn't). I would have felt terrible, but also would have been quite surprised.
Nice riding, cleaning all the big climbs and having a faster riding time!
The hub I got from you is still flawless.
If you know anyone else who wants to get rid of their old DTswiss 240 135mm QR hub, I'm your man. Definitely interested now, and my local bike store can't get them.
The riding wasn't all that pretty in the technical bits that were slippery. I was on and off on a lot of stuff I cleaned last time in dry conditions. Still happy with the ride. Quite a lot of climbing for a non out-west ride.
Is John M envisioning some issues with the DTSwiss on the Kodiak? I found his bentrider comments a bit mysterious.
VB, he was answering a bunch of questions I had asked him this year and never got a response by email. He’s a mysterious guy.
I had asked what he thought about switching to a 10mm thru-axle instead of QR. DTSwiss has a conversion kit that might fit the Kodiak.
