Are you the "Christina Louis" (sic) who I see registered?
Jun 13, 2018 6:51 PM #
Um, probably? I was going to run with the international mishmash team but now my club unexpectedly needs me to fill in on their second team. So I (or “Christina Louis”) am unfortunately bailing on the vaguely North American team. But I will be there!

Yup, exactly the same for me/us (not Venla ...) -- NAOC is just too expensive to get us all to, even too much to justify me going alone. I was bummed for a couple weeks about that. BUT, Laramie is a nice little consolation prize.

YAY! I'm sorry none of us are going to NAOC....but will be happy to see you guys at RMOF in Laramie. :-)

Same with usl NAOC is too far, too expensive, not enough vacation time, etc. Laramie here we come!

Wooo! Party time in Laramie! We booked a hotel room so at least we won't be shut out there.

J-J, when are the wise New Englanders arriving and where would I find them?

Rental tent 355

Most of the UNO crew is already over there somewhere. Ill be the last to arrive, my plane gets into Helsinki at 15:15 Saturday. Tent 355 is in the eastern most section, I believe.

Hei Cristina Lahdesta Suomessa.

Yes, Team UNO will be in tent 355 in the north-central part of the eastern block of the military-tent-city. Team DVOA (Greg A et. al.) I think might be in tent 329 (western edge of the eastern block). Team OUSA is in tent 385 (very southeastern corner).

Are you with Nydalens SK? I don't see them on the tent list but that might mean that they are bringing their own tent rather than renting one of the military tents? Let us know where you are so we can find you (if you don't find us first).

As far the North American Championships, Betsy and I are retired so we take the position that it is not far enough. We're driving to Yukon, then after that driving to the Arctic Ocean via the newly opened $300 million CAD extension of the Dempster Highway through to Tuktoyaktuk, North-West Territory, then after that going to a contra dance weekend in Fairbanks, Alaska, then after that going to the Seattle misnamed but wonderful sprint tournament. So I'll miss Laramie. Try as I might, I can't do everything!

That sounds like an awesome roadtrip! Maybe we'll do that kind of thing once Lukas is a little older...

You won't find a military tent for Nydalens SK because we are a pampered bunch. Tonight we are in apartments in Lahti and for the rest of the weekend we are staying at Real beds, hot meals, and, most importantly, no arena noise all night long. Not sure how much time I'll spend at the arena since I have a lot of work to do but I will certainly try to seek out the other Americans!

Oh, I forgot that we will have our own tent, too, for during the race, but I don’t think that is a likely place to find me except for right before and after I run. Not sure the number (18?) but it is apparently almost as close to the main part of the arena as possible, in the team wind shelter area on the way to the spectator control.
