The use of "inches" in this context is definitely a sign of family connections to the land (albeit not as close as if you'd referred to "points").

I spend enough time working with historical data to be fluent in both languages, so to speak (and sometimes keep a wary eye out for data from 1974 - the changeover year - with numbers four times what they should be).

Looks like generally 60-70mm in the Belair area (also Hawthorndene and Coromandel East), dropping to 30-40 at the base of the hills (Mitcham, Marion) and about 20 at Adelaide Airport.
