Because I am, and there's no avoiding it, really slow. :-)
Slow compared to some folks, but there are those of us who can only dream of going as fast as you do.
I don't have to worry that my bike may be a bit of a clunker.
Just when I was really admiring the dark blue bike and thinking I should really get one. Seems like a fine machine.
It is a fine machine. And I love it. But if I was simply wanting to go faster, I could do a lot better (and spend a lot more money). Though I'd still be pretty close to DFL. :-)
For example, I could get wheels and tires that would be significantly lighter/faster. But then I'd lose what I like about my current ones, which is that, being wider and more tread and able to run at a lower pressure, I can feel comfortable on not just dirt roads and off-road, but also when the potholes and pavement cracks and sand show up. It's a trade-off that I'm very happy to make.
Well, that’s what I was finding so appealing about it.
