I had to grin when Marie described getting all turned around at an intersection and struggling to relocate. Sounds like she and Tomas had fun. We had a good chat about how easy it can be to underestimate the confusion of all the trails around here, and also how easy to just tell yourself "it's short, I could cut through here!" in the off-trail parks, and then just get eaten up by the thick vegetation.

Glad you had such a great turn-out. We'll see if we can find the motivation to drive south for one of the next few...

Ah yes, what's their story? I happened to recognize a face from Team Trials but didn't get a chance to meet them or ask what brought them to Seattle, etc.

Two orienteers from the Czech Republic, staying with Barb and helping coach Nagivation Games for the last 2 months, then traveling for the final month of their tourist visa. They're doing a NP circuit similar to ours, so someone linked us up while we were at Boston Sprint Camp (magically scheduled for the same weekend we were closing on our house)...and we just happen to live about as close as you can get to one of the first parks on their list, plus COC had the Weds evening thing going, so...perfect!

Further proof that orienteers are awesome. Not like I needed any, but still.

Is Zbenik from Prague still in Seattle? Super nice guy, I ran with his club when I lived there.

Seems like I see him sort of at random intervals. I heard once that he splits his time between Seattle and Czech.
