Thanks! Yes, it was great. I am SO missing those roads: smooth pavement and swoopy turns & switchbacks heading up to amazing cols with hardly any traffic. Comparing to back home, here it seems we either have straight boring highways with lots of fast traffic, or gravel roads for logging and fire access. Over there, it seems like they have put so much effort into building so many great routes for so little traffic.
After all of those big days, a lot of the numbers (130km+ distances, 3000m+ elevation gains) don't seem so intimidating and I'm already looking forward to the next big rides. That said, the pace you choose and the number of breaks makes a huge difference in how the day feels. Again I wish we had more of those rides around here, without fast traffic or boring grid configuration. Oh well, it just means more trips to places like that :)
Yes, your trip sounded amazing. What a workout, what a bunch of epic rides! Imagine if we had nice paved roads snaking over the mountains with considerate drivers and light traffic!
