Certainly. On a similar note, have you thought about running power meters? I see garmin has a free app (aka save $200 on Stryd) and all you need is a HRM RUN chest strap or a Garmin RD Pod which is very easy to come by. Would be interesting to base AP zones off that too.
Andrew Lennon has been training with running power for 6 months or so now and really likes it... you could talk to him about it (not sure if you've ever met him).
I don't feel the need personally. I trust my RPEs, and kinda prefer not running to a number.
bike power, on the other hand, i actually enjoy the concept of cycling to a number...
