I had one ligament (left knee) and one cartilage (right) trimmed/removed in 80's - fortunately arthroscopic surgery had begun - out patient & good recovery. Discovering orienteering turned out to be best therapy for both knees!
Diagnosis was very difficult then -- not sure if its improved - soft tissue is hard to read.
Unfortunately, meniscus seems likely for you -- good luck.

Still keeping my fingers crossed it's a minor sprain that just needs a little time! Somewhere online they specifically mentioned snowplows being hard on MCLs, and plows + leaning on that leg are a couple of the things that hurt it. In the meantime it's not noticeable in everyday life, and taking some time off of intense training is helping with my foot problems too!

Good luck! I had a ligament tear in my knee just over a year ago, They originally thought it was meniscus, but then determined it was just a tear. With a knee brace, I was able to get back into the woods in just a few days, course setting and walking courses - a month and a half later went to the Canadian Champs but not at full strength. It took a while, but at least no surgery needed. Wishing you the best of luck with your injury and a speedy recovery!
