Great race. Have you solved your race stomach problems ? I guess Hammer hasn't.
My stomach was mostly fine this time, but it was just a touch dicey after we ate a bit during our 10 min penalty. I got lots of liquid down, more than Mike. I think if it was a touch faster I may have had issues as well.
Mike was on fire, both nav and final pace.
Yay!!! Congratulations to you and Hammer. Great racing.
Great job. It’s hard to look good next to Magic Mike, but you did it.
We certainly did this one the hard way. We did gain some valuable data on what pace is and isn’t sustainable for WT team Long Time Running on foot, and also some good info for bike pacing on hilly dirt roads and on trail.
Congratulations again and nice seeing you.
Congrats to you and Amber on the podium too!
Wow, sounds like an exciting race, with an excellent and determined finish! Congrats on the overall win!!
Even though our strategy was for WT training and even though i felt like shit the last few hours it was hard not to get full course fever when it was within our grasp. It was worth it after doing it. thanks for towing me so early in the race. that’s two podium finishes out of two this year. a three hour and 8 hour. 3x8 though is gonna be a suffer fest for me
No it won't. We'll do it at the pace we did on the training weekend, not pedal-to-the-metal.
Team Hammer Fever.. Nice work taking down the full course. Look forward to seeing the finish pics of you and Mike coming in at the wire. May rival the winter ones?!
Looking at the splits, Race Day Rush did the NE over an hour faster by bike and canoe than we did on foot and boat. Not sure how much longer it would take to do it riding all the way from the hub.
giving teams a one hour advantage in an eight hour race is insane. i can’t believe we still won overall
Never give up. We made it up with good route planning and precision- yours.
Doing the math a little better, adjusting for the paddling time, we probably only lost 25 min to RDR in the Northeast. Their spilts were from hub back to hub.
looking over the race map last night I don’t think we lost anytime on nav with the exception of a little bit of hesitation on one CP. It was nice for confidence having you following along pointing things out. So great that teams get multiple maps now.
We should practice some night nav and trekking before WT.
I should practice not getting water in my map bag when opening it with wet gloves to check instructions and having the map dissolve later in the race.
mack tack works all the time
… almost all the time ;-)
Not keeping your instructions in the same bag as your map works even better. :)
