... for punishment. I like the idea but wouldn't consider 4X5-6km as a one-man-band. I may have referred to a 4X1-2km type of thing I am developing. (With various modes of transport between according to taste.) I too have battled Condes for non-std stuff in the past tho for above activity its just 5 sep courses on sep canvases. We might swap Condes experience by email.

If it happens next year it will be with an organising team. Too much for one person. I was thinking a course setter for each map.

Uncle JiM:
If you make it best 3 results of 4 races, then the 4 course setters could be official. Just need some scoring system

Ah I see. I only looked closely at The Perfumed Garden, and my eyes are failing and I read 8.2 as 5.2 or something. I can still jump though - jump to a conclusion that they were all that length.

NOW I perhaps see why you were battling Condes - you wanted the control numbers to keep on incrementing? Yes I recall wanting to offer C1 for beginners and a C2 which led straight on from the last control of C1 or something, and I couldn't do it. Or something like that.

The control numbers incrementing automatically is easy to achieve. But the control description box does not increment automatically (which seems an oversight). At a late stage I changed a course and forgot to manually adjust the control box.
Re best three of four, one constraint was working with a limited number of start and finish boxes. I suppose I could have reprogrammed some boxes, but preferred not to. A second more problematic constraint would be having to download after each race. That would means a mass migration of all competitors between each venue. With only 10-12 controls on each map, the course would probably soon feel like a regular o-ringen. By doing it with one start and one finish at the assembly I smoothed the competitor load and the parking load at each venue. This would have to change if I ever get round to having venues at Dunolly, Tarnagulla and Inglewood in the one event.
