I completely understand about the manual labor and how it affects athletic workouts at our age.
Yup... it would be a treat to just walk. Sooo hard to take those first running steps sometimes. Actually, all the time.
I do way less manual labor compared to your home repair chores but I do yard work and chores plus the non-run exercises but what amazes me is how I can wake up sore and not know why then remember I did some trivial extra exercise or chore that was different. Chrissy has been playing golf against young guns at the state level the past two weeks and they are bombing it by her...even older ladies are so was googling stuff she could do (she does work out walking/jogging 2 miles or more 4 to 5 days a week and does weights on the machines at Y about 2 times a week) so I tried a few machine pulls on the idiotic waste of space machine we have and I mean like 10 reps total...also I trimmed the hedges for about 2 minutes...I could feel it...not bad but if I had done just a little more I would not have been able to get out of bed.
