I have never ventured into these parts of BB. That entire range hills due south of Catamount Hill looks very interesting, judging from the old O-map (NEOC map 1).

Yes, to the S & W, maybe getting out of the park. I'm going to go S of Catamount more with subsequent visits - "desperate" for new views of BB. I found a map of the BB marathon route but it wasn't clear. Saw a 2014 marathon video. I wonder what unfamiliar trails it might use.

The marathon stays on the more easterly trails: This years route: From Snowmobile parking (event venue) to Catamount hill to Cascade, to Hayes marsh, then around the S O-map piece counter clockwise, then towards Hall mountain onsingle track trails. then a counter clockwise loop to near Boy Scout camp then S, then E, then up Hall Mt again. then to Campground, then a loop on the N E trails, then, cross the road and via Pitch Pine and Bobcat trail to Hayes field. Then N to Little Bear Trail, then Bear Brook Trail W to Cascade, and up over Catamount hill and home.
