LS is short for Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. We're working with a PE teacher there (AK) to develop an orienteering curriculum and kits for high school PE. It's really fun to work with her because she is super enthusiastic about trying new orienteering activities with her students. It is also fun to go there and help out because that is where I went to school. Neat to be able to bring some orienteering to a place that is so important to me.

Cool. Never been able to do O' at my high school, but I've done programs at the elementary school I went to from 4th thru 6th grade. Its always cool when I see a kid wearing a shirt with the Scottish Terrier mascot on it, since the school was brand new when I first went there and I won the contest to pick the mascot for the new school.

Why a Scottish Terrier? The HS mascot was the Highlanders, hence the connection. And I gave other reasons that today would probably be considered politically incorrect, eg the reputation of Scots for being hard working and thrifty. (Hey, whaddaya expect from a 4th grader back in those days) Anyway, my nomination got selected, and its a chuckle to see that its still adorning school-wear 40-some years later...

Congrats for diving in so quickly after your return from Norway! Besides O, will you be infecting their young minds about some of the other advantages of Scandinavia?
