...wonky course markings and apparently were sitting 2nd & 3rd right now; only a couple of minutes off the winning time. I suspect that’ll change with some protests, but like you I was not there to place.
Fun race and great to push the body a bit in August ...not something I normally do.
I expect there will be adjustments made. Our pace wouldn’t have cracked the top ten in the 34 k event.
Were you signed up for 34K and the signage sent you on an 18K route?
No, 18 was the distance. There were two problem areas, both sent people 180 degrees the wrong way. I think one of them was our fault and one I assume was just placed backward.
If you look at my track vs. Kleppertons (he did the 34, but the routes were common, they just did more laps) I went down the canyon in a place that I dont think a lot of others did. I was following a group there and at the bottom the signs were confusing which could be explained by taking the wrong route to the right spot.
The sign pointing the wrong way at the top of the climb out was not a runner error. It was either placed incorrectly or moved. By the time I returned on my second loop it was corrected by someone.
Between the two errors I’m probably all square, more or less, with the field, but who knows.
Yikes, that’s never fun. Congrats anyway!
