Hah! Needed the miles, needed to do some night testing for confidence, etc.

KSwede runs with a waist light. Basically a headlamp but with a bigger strap, to go around the waist. Hmm ... Maybe I can just put my headlamp on one of my waist straps. But I think they might be kind of specific / different lights. Giving that a go for starters, tho. 'Cause $70 is $70!

The point is: when light is coming from near where your eyes are (headlamp), the shadows of things like rocks on the ground are directly 'behind' the object, so hidden from your eyes. They really 'flatten' things out. If the light is coming from your waist, more of the shadow is visible to your eye, helping you see the trail better, and be safer, and more confident.

I can lend you mine if you want. The startup is very comfortable. Plus all the back up batteries. It is helpful in fog and rain too. Not as blinding as headlights.

Oh, thanks! I’d love to borrow it, Kswede! Maybe I’ll swing by this weekend? Will you be back? At your convenience.
