The first 1/2 Sauer 1/2 Kraut was at Grings Mill in 2010. It was brutally hot and humid, but I enjoyed it. The next year they moved to Pennypack Park (also nice with about a mile of woods trail running) and stayed there.

Was still intending to try to make this, but not after going out last night for my friend's birthday in Philly (I didn't get home until 3 AM.) Thought I would look for a race next weekend, but there doesn't seem to be much out there except Labor Pains (which I'm not doing at $80 entry fee - maybe if I was in better shape to do a lot of distance.) Unless I want to go to Bucks County, which I might just end up doing.

Thanks, Maryann! They postponed it from 3 weeks ago after the heavy, heavy rainfall that central PA got flooded the originally planned course. Much better conditions today. (one small muddy area for the 5km)

Julie, you missed a nice race, but for a good reason. Hope you find something for next weekend.

Best part was the post-race spread: pizza, fruit, bagels, and ice cream! Raffle prizes were not won by us, but everyone received two raffle tickets with entry (along with a tech-polyester shirt with a picture of Gring's Mill on the front -- nice shirt).

And BBQ pork sandwiches, which seemed a bit odd at 10am when most of the 5kers and many of the 10kers were done.

I think I could have totally eaten BBQ pork at 10 AM... had I been awake :-)

:-)

I skipped the pork, so I forgot to mention it (wasn't in the mood...at 10am ).
