How does AP match splits with log entries?

For the North Americans week, AP seems to some have automatically made the connection between splits and log for some of the events but not others. AP did recognize me by my AP name in all of the events, presumably by matching my SI number, except for the sprint event where I rented and SI Air, and I was able to "claim" that one by entering the SI number from the split sheet I got at the event.

But there's still no link from the splits to my log entry for that sprint race or several other of the events. Maybe it has something to do with my botching the starting of the GPS for some days?--does AP use GPS location to decide whether I ran a certain race? (My Forerunner 15 sometimes syncs quick, sometimes doesn't sync till I am halfway around the course.) Is there any way to match the splits with the log manually for the entries it did not pick up automatically?

I could go back and find one of the many threads dealing with the subject but it's easier to say it uses the trace for that day that's within five seconds of your official time so if you want it to link, you have to make your time match somewhat (just edit your log entry). Your 21 & 23 Aug events are miles off, several minutes in fact. If you mucked up the start then matching the trace won't be much use anyway because it'll start plonking controls using the start time from the GPS.

The first thing to try is to edit your logged time to be within 5 seconds of the time recorded on your splits sheet.

Thanks cedarcreek, that did it.
