Ranking being complicated and the Junior National rules being complicated are two separate things. There was a grievance filed regarding the Junior nationals, but there was no ruling (no need for one). The issue was that there was some bad data in the system due to people switching courses or whatever at the last minute, and the opaque scoring system made it difficult to doublecheck the scores on site (combined with some misunderstandings about eligibilityof exchange students). In the end the results crew did a careful reanalysis of everything and came up with the correct numbers, which were unfortunately different from the ones announced at the awards ceremony. And as a sanity check in the calculation, there was also a recalculation of the previous year's Junior National results, which was ultimately unable to reproduce them.
Also, it's "Orienteering USA Nationals" or "Nationals", not "US Champs"
And yes, rankings are a different beast than JN scoring.
