Hypoventilation training. May have messed the spelling up but there is a 1:04 YOUTube clip about Zatopek doing surges holding his breath...and this is what it was called. I do it walking as well. Go long periods of time where I stop doing it because I get tired/bored doing it, but always seem to go back to doing it.

We nearly doubled the prior miles. Our record was like Ryun's 3:51 miles or Claytons' 2:08:33 marathon.
I noticed the 20K/championship winning time was just over 1 hour. Zatopek ran more than 20K in 1951 for the one hour run...bet they don't keep up with that record much.
