That must have been frustrating. I think the trails at Pisgah will be easier to follow :-) I'm thinking of coming up for a slow, training run to get some miles in.
I ran really hard, but the trail was rough and nebulous. Once I realized how deep under I was, I stopped worrying, but kept pushing as hard as I could. The trail N just seemed to go on forever until it disappeared into the marsh.
Sue and I had a personal worst. Got stuck in nasty places where we couldn't get across the lakes and marshes. Probably not our last rogaine though. Hope not.
My disaster was overwhelming enough to be amusing. But it really has made me think about planning my exit time and distance much earlier even in a 6 hour event.
I managed to stay out of any sucking mud by avoiding all the marshes -- except the ones the trail ran through. I luckily tiptoed across five beaver dams without slipping off the tops.
Our personal worst but the one and only time that we beat you. Thank you for being so considerate.
The other old guys did really well though.
Congrats! My pleasure to accrue a 1060 point penalty.
