We've all been too busy following the "He did / I did not" show from Washington.

I had the radio on for about 15 minutes tonight, and I just couldn't stand it.

It's "important" to you guys - but not really to us but still we have to get it night after night after night. So we've generated our own scandal relating to our national/independent broadcaster!

I have no idea what's going on in either North American or Australian politics. I get all my news (and unfortunately unrelated Bachelor and Survivor gossip) from Have You Been Paying Attention, which is how I found out we had a new PM. To be fair to me though, I had been on a training course with limited access to news for the prior two weeks leading up to that. We could have had three PMs in that time.

Here's a serious question related to last night's hearings:

How is it even conceivable to have a vote on this nomination without first letting (ordering?) the FBI to investigate the 3-4(++?) independent allegations of at least "very drunk & disorderly conduct" up to attempted rape?

Because politics.

How is it conceivable?
Remember these senators are guys much like Kavanaugh except many grew up in an earlier generation but they were just as 'geeky' in their youth.
The geeks grow in to their mid teen years horny and hearing about all the sex that the jocks and cool guys are getting. They hear they have to be assertive to score. So they have a few drinks or perhaps a lot of drinks and make their move. They see Kavanaugh as having tried and failed, just like they probably did.
Go back to the early 1980s with movies out like 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' and the AIDS reality hardly on the radar there was a lot of peer pressure on American guys to 'score'. The girls were presumed to be secretly 'wanting it'. It was a really screwed up generation.
What really bothers me is that Kavanaugh, a judge, claims that he was a virgin through his high school years so he could not have assaulted Dr Ford. Is that how he rules in court? There was no penetration so there was no assault? Is that who they want on their Supreme Court?

Seething ball of rage is what I have been for 24 hours now!

And not at anything that has been said on this thread, I should add.

Yeah, this is a goddamn embarrassment. DC is a barrel of laughs right now.
