We were in Calgary yesterday for about 90 minutes around midnight. You're welcome (for not calling you). And yes, it was cold getting off our little plane outdoors.

Tested the indoor track around the oval today. Much nicer than outside however a bit boring running in circles. A bit of a cold snap here I think. You vacation sounded awesome by the way!

I'm going to be in Calgary tomorrow to meet with Chinese officials and go to a Japanese reception. Might have some time for a quick drink if you're kicking about, late afternoon.

Looks like it's going to stay cold all through the weekend. You should try to get yourself to Canmore and watch the races if possible.

If you're going, let me know, and I'll send you a photo of our young neighbour who will be racing, so that you can say hello. I hope Canmore is better, but there were very few spectators at Silver Star, so I felt like all the racers needed people to cheer for them!

BTW Nev, your job sure sounds like fun, as jobs go.

I'm hitting Canmore in Jan for sure for those races. I get off at 4:30 Nev so anytime after that just let me know your schedule or perhaps i can sneak out a little earlier.

I like how its Chinese officials and a Japanese reception.

I'm officially there for the Japanese Emperor's Birthday Celebration at the Japanese Consulate. The Chinese just need a hug after some hurt feelings on both parts.

I'll drop you a line in the afternoon.

Bash, how are the NTDC's suits this year? Last year's ones were "interesting" to say the least. Looks like Indi2010 have the best suits two years in a row (the green ones).

What is the deal with Indi2010? I mean are they just a group that is just racing hard till 2010? From my limited understanding they use to be on the Canadian team (elite/junior - someor maybe most?) got cut, started this club but don't understand if they a) they are trying to get on the olympic team (not sure how olympic selection works) or is just for development purposes as elites?

Indi2010 is a senior racing team with designs on making World Cup, World Champs and Olympic teams. Everyone on the team has been on the Nat team in the past and have either been cut or turned down spots.
Cross-Country Canada had a hurtin year last year and lost a bunch of funding so they had to cut people, so some of them landed on indi010, like Dan Roycroft (top Canadian Cups points guy last year). CCC has been focused on potential for 2010, so if you were thought to be too old and slow, you were cut.
X-C.com is a similar team, except with more of a loppet focus.
And if you look at the results, they can still race pretty fast. And have always had good suits.

I'd certainly rather race in the Indi2010 suits. I'll e-mail you a photo of the suits, Nev. They are mostly white with some fast-looking red accents. The same suits are being worn by the Nat team and both NTDCs. I think they look good, but you need a lot of confidence to walk around in white spandex!

Oh, and Meridian - there are good XC races in Canmore this Thurs/Sat/Sun. They were supposed to be held two weeks earlier, but there wasn't enough snow. It's called the Haywood Noram series. I can't find any details online because of the change.
