The OKC female ultra distance runner did it again. Set an official world record for 24 hours and I think 100 miles also...ON A TRACK! 600+ laps. She did 162 miles in 24 hours and beat the first man by several miles. She averages 8:40 a mile! That is unbelievable. She is very scientific in in how trains...her job...and I do mean a job where she's employed...is right in line with studying herself and her training and racing and she has some sort of perfect body although she was injured in the last year.
She did mention having a mental battle the last few hours...I would think you might just break at some point and the thought of ultra running would make you want to vomit. Just doing 25 laps on the track is a real mind tester. I did do a 12k a few years back...ran one hour races a couple of times on track...if I did ultras I would only want to do scenic and/or historic type races/runs.
I saw her at a marathon years ago. She was doing some sort of visualization exercise at the starting line. She'd walk, using exaggerated running motion. High knees, high arms, staring straight ahead. All in slow motion. It was funny and weird. She obviously didn't care what people thought about her.
:) Some people are crazy and some are even more crazy and a few are normal. I'll let you be the judge of what you think we are. Don't know if she does that now or not.
Stupid calf is still a little sore. Ice and heat wrap. Nothing bad just annoying.
