shorter than two years ago (~4 miles)? Or were you running faster than the 50 - 55 min we were doing a couple of years ago in the cold and snow?

Perhaps errantly, I equated running w moving time.

i think the laps were a bit shorter than previous years, at about 4mi each bc the S/F line was moved closer to the trail instead of the parking lot.

It's only 30m from the shelter to the trailhead, so I don't think the position of the line mattered much. I was running 38-40m/lap through 50K, which was the plan. I think when we were running together, we were getting to 3 miles in around 35 minutes and then walking it in. So, not too different speed wise; just a bit firmer.
