Tom - I was so sorry to see you limping back in on Sunday. What is the status of your ankle?

It's going to be all right, thanks. I did the usual RICE treatment for a day and since then I've pretty much left it alone. The swelling has gone down some, and I can walk on it comfortably. I'm pretty sure nothing is broken or needs medical attention.

My theory is that the outrageous swelling was due to some medication I'm taking. It really was huge. I think it was the swelling that basically disabled it, and without that, it's similar to other times I've sprained it. It happens every few years, and takes a few weeks to recover. The remaining question is whether to withdraw from the Navigator Cup.

If you have a brace like Active ankle (if swelling goes down) it would at least protect your ankle while you run.

Yes, I've used Active Ankles, but I'm not a fan. I have a decent lace-up brace, and I have a Swede-O Inner Lok on order, which my daughters swear by (they both play Ultimate, which I have to rate as a higher risk for ankle sprains than orienteering).

I pulled the plug on this year's GNC. Too bad, I was really looking forward to seeing Chattahoochee Bend again. I walked about 2 miles today and felt fine, but my foot is still too fat to fit in my o-shoes.
