40℃ all this week in Canberra. With your experience of the last few months, would you suggest embracing it or avoiding it?

I think its pretty ok to do easy training to keep things ticking over, but just nothing too hard. I don't start my runs till the sun is pretty low which helps. I also find that I'm good if I'm well hydrated, but if I'm not then I really suffer.

A couple of northwest Queensland sites (Cloncurry and Camooweal) have just had their 32nd consecutive day above 40, the longest such run ever at any Queensland site. A few 39.somethings in late December stopped Trepell from joining the club.

And the latest in the long list of OMG-stats for the report I'm currently writing comes from Mount Isa. Before this summer their record run of 40-degree days was 13. This year they had 16, then a 39.8, then another 19 (and counting).

our current forecast says we might get a non-40C day before the end of Jan, but I don't think I believe it. also lining up for the first Jan with 0 rainfall.

also - what happens with missing records on the BOM summary sheets? I was compiling rainfall the other day and there is a blank day in Nov. our gauges had 16 at the weather station and 14 at the mine.
