Technology? I don't think so. I just needed something other than my 25 year old mountain bike for rides with my retiree cycling group. They are partial to paved rail trails, so I bought a Co-op Cycles CTY 2.1 at REI to use for those rides and to do errands around town. 700mm wheels and disk brakes. What's not to like?
